W19 Whirling
Arrows
The basic Whirling Arrow design inspiring these four variations was drawn
in 1940 from one of the many ancient indian petroglyphs found on the Taliesin
West grounds when Frank Lloyd Wright began constructing his camp. (more)

Wright created many versions of the Whirling Arrow petroglyph. It reminded him of two hands clasping in a gesture of friendship. One version of it is currently the logo for the Taliesin Fellowship, a residential community of Apprentices and Teachers associated with the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. It is fitting that the petroglyph inspiration for these designs can be seen at Taliesin West as Wright professed that buildings grow naturally from their environment.
