When finished Liberty judged the covers to be too avant-garde to be published. The magazine returned Wright’s presentation drawings and they became the basis for later interpretations executed in diverse media. In 1937 “July Fourth” became the only design in this series to make it’s way onto the cover of a nationally distributed publication, Town and Country.
